MAXOL CLARECASTLE WINS GLOBAL CHALLENGE DURING PANDEMIC

Celebrations were underway in Clare recently with the news that Maxol Clarecastle beat off stiff competition from forecourt retailers across four continents to take first prize in a new global challenge. The Global Forecourt Experience Challenge is a new initiative that recognises teams for their cleanliness and safety efforts on-site during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two-month challenge, which took place in July and August 2020, saw Maxol Clarecastle work tirelessly to beat forecourt retailers across the globe including Circle K and Coen Markets in the USA, Puma in South America, Esso On the Run in Australia and Engen in South Africa.

The aim of the challenge was not to create extra work, but to instead examine initiatives that were already in place with four common themes: Cleaning and Safety, Customer Experience, Sustained Change and Customer Feedback, each of which ran for a two-week period. In addition, the Challenge recognised forecourt teams for being on the frontline, not only during the pandemic but prior to a global crisis that gave the public a new appreciation for retail teams.

Delighted with the global acknowledgement, Brian Donaldson, CEO of The Maxol Group commented: “A huge congratulations to the team at Maxol Clarecastle on their win, which is a phenomenal achievement considering the scale, size, and calibre of their opponents. This accolade is a huge credit to the dedicated team that has worked so hard throughout the pandemic to ensure forecourt safety standards are maintained vigorously and customer expectations are not just met, but surpassed.

“As a fourth-generation company, Maxol values its customers greatly and always strives to make them feel welcome, safe and secure when visiting any Maxol forecourt. The Maxol Clarecastle team is at the heart of the community in Ennis and has demonstrated our company ethos perfectly and we could not be prouder.

Aramark, the global specialist in food and facilities management services, operate the forecourt on behalf of Maxol.  Shane Flynn, Managing Director, Food Services and Facilities Management, Aramark Ireland said “This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work of our team. We strive for operational excellence every day and we are delighted to be recognised by the Global Forecourt Experience Challenge. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. This award underlines the incredibly high standards provided by the Aramark team at Maxol Clarecastle.”

Store Manager of Maxol Clarecastle, Laura Murphy commended her team and said: “This win isn’t just the result of the eight-week challenge but builds on the great work and commitment that our team displays every day, year-round.  We’re passionate about creating the best experience possible for our customers and this means ensuring high-level safety and hygiene measures are always in place.  Since the pandemic hit, we’ve been extra vigilant to make sure all customers feel safe when on-site at Maxol Clarecastle.
